Shipping
The partners of the Firm have had extensive experience for up to twenty years in all shipping work. As Chambers & Partners' 2016 Edition confirms, we are "a very good firm with a focus on quality. The team concentrates on shipping disputes, but does very well outside this area too."
Wet shipping work is a major area of expertise and name partners Feyzi Erçin and Burcu Çelikçapa-Bilgin have been involved in the investigation and complete handling of significant marine casualties, involving total losses, collisions, oilspills, piracy and salvage. Both have long standing practice of negotiating salvage claims of the local salvors. The Firm handles shipping casualty work on behalf of some of the major P&I Clubs, defending and reducing governmental, administrative and third party claims in significant sums. The wet shipping department is headed by Feyzi Ercin who has a wide range of experience in a variety of wet shipping litigation, ranging from underwater structure damages to pollution claims.
All partners of the firm have dry shipping experience on charterparty disputes, cargo claims including contamination cases, debt recovery, total losses, crew and personal injury claims, Bills of Lading matters, exercise of liens, limitation of liability under Turkish law.
The introduction of the new Commercial Code in 2012 has made Turkish law partly identical with international conventions. Partners of the Firm have followed up the process of the legislation closely since 2001 and continue to attend to its practice and the establishment of precedents.
We operate on a 24-hour basis to provide immediate crisis management and our out of office hours contact details can be found in the personal links. A member of the Firm will always be mobilized promptly upon receipt of instructions of a casualty, to the accident site.
